- After completing his MBBS in 1994 and MD in 1998 from Calicut Medical College, Calicut, he pursued DM from the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, Bangalore in 2002. He then underwent advanced training in epilepsy at ULC Institute of Neurology, Queens Square, London. In 2005, he earned the International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology (IFCN) Fellowship and a speciality certification from the Royal College of Physicians, UK in 2006.
- Dr. Ashraf's areas of expertise include performing a pre-surgical evaluation for epilepsy, Botox injections, neuro-electrophysiology procedures, neuroimmunology and neuromuscular disorders.
- He initiated the work of setting up a department of neurology at Aster MIMS, Calicut and headed it for 14 years. He was felicitated with the Dr. Eapen Samuel Memorial award by the IMA- AMS in 2019.
