4 years old from Nigeria gets Treated with Eye Surgery in India

Alao Alimi is a 4 years old child from Nigeria, who has been a cheerful kid with bright eyes. Due to some unknown reason, the eye pressure inside his eyes got raised, due to to which he started having eye pain and blurred vision. He would also complain of headache once in a while. Only when they consulted an eye doctor nearby, the parents were advised to for the surgery. Read the complete story to know how they made things fall in place.

In the pursuit of the right hospital

Shortly, the family started digging out information for the best eye doctor in India. During their exploration, they got to know about Vaidam Health, which could facilitate their journey while getting the treatment. They posted a query on their website. They received a call back from Aditi Sabharwal, who is one of the case managers in the team. Aditi took their reports and shared them with the top doctors in India. Sometimes, she was able to provide their opinion with a cost estimate to the family. She also shared detailed profiles of top doctors and hospitals with them. In a short time, Alao’s parents decided to visit Artemis hospital, Gurgaon.

Applying for visa

The team of Vaidam Health also helped in getting the Visa Invitation Letter from the hospital. Thereafter, the medical visa was applied. In a couple of days, the family received the visa at their email address. The hotel was booked and the airport pickup was arranged before their arrival in India. Finally, Alao and his father landed in India on September 29. The appointment was scheduled with Dr. Sameer Kaushal, one of the finest eye doctors in India.

Their journey in India

During the appointment, the doctor heard the entire story and then performed some tests. Finally, he was able to confirm that Alao needed as surgery called Trabeculectomy. 

In brief, trabeculectomy is a surgical procedure done to reduce the intraocular pressure, which is done by making a tiny hole in the sclera of the eye.

Finally, Dr. Sameer performed the surgery successfully. Alao stayed in the hospital overnight to avoid any complications and was discharged the next day. The doctor explained to his father about the post-surgical precautions that they would need to take. 

After a week Alao and the family headed back to Nigeria. When contacted recently, his father informed that Alao was doing well and recovering from the surgery as expected.
