One year after celebrity columnist Shobha De tweeted a picture of MP police officer Daulatram Jogawat, in a practice that is referred to as “fat-shaming”. The 52-year-old cop from the Neemuch region of Madhya Pradesh miraculously lost 65 kg after Bariatric Surgery. The surgery was conducted by Dr. Muffazal Lakdawala at Saifee Hospital.
Before being operated on, Mr. Jogawat weighed in at 180 kg; he currently weighs 115 kg. This drastic weight loss initiative was kicked-off in February last year when celebrity columnist Shobha De cooked up a controversy by posting a picture of the police officer along with her views on the physical appearance of the officer. Although the columnist got considerable flak on social media for her comments, it was the police officer who walked away better-off.
Today he thanks Shobha De for bringing his case into the limelight; after all, it was thanks to her publicity that led to specialist surgeon Dr. Muffazal Lakdawala approaching the officer with an offer to operate on him for free. Jogawat, who has been a patient of insulin imbalance for the last two decades, has been struggling with weight loss problems since a gall bladder operation. His only way out was surgery. Bariatric surgery is a great solution to weight loss problems which helps achieve weight loss by reducing the size of the stomach with a gastric band or through a removal of a portion of the stomach.
