It is not only at the time of unexpected and sudden amoral connections that we are at a loss of breath while our hands and feet give out cold sweat. Sometimes, these are signals that point at a physiological problem. Although in both the cases it involves the heart, tugging to our life the later is more fatal. Kelement Ilobe Aninye, a middle aged man from Nigeria faced the same symptoms. His doctor suggested a cardiac condition when he experienced shortness of breath. But who knew that his condition was even worse than what was diagnosed. Here, Aninye tells the story of how he revived again after his medical trip to India.
What did the diagnosis in India reveal?
I went to Max Super Specialty Hospital, Gurgaon, where Dr. Sanjeev Malhotra advised me to undergo certain tests to determine what heart condition I was suffering from. The revelation was shocking. The echocardiogram reports not only showed multiple blockages in the arteries of my heart but the rate at which my heart function declined. Dr. Malhotra told me that currently the cardiac efficiency of my heart was 20 – 25 per cent. I and my wife were out of words. We were scared. I personally felt how I have been surviving like this for so many days without even the slightest knowledge.
What treatment was suggested to you?
I was put on ventilator for a few days and then Dr. Malhotra suggested that I undergo a CABG surgery. It was an open heart surgery. I thought how the uncertainties of life were playing with me - although I gave my consent, I did not know whether I will ever open my eyes or not. But Dr. Malhotra helped both of us (me and my wife) to calm down and assured us that all will be fine. Because of the expertise he holds as a cardiac surgeon, his diagnosis and his experience I trusted him completely.
How do you feel after the treatment?
After the surgery I had to spend over a fortnight at the hospital. I feel fine now. Dr. Malhotra has prescribed medications so that the blockages do not recur. Under the supervision of the patient care team at Max Hospital I never felt neglected. They were attentive, professional and friendly. The infrastructure of the hospital incorporates all the advanced technologies. They have a very organized approach towards their patients which even makes it easier for us. I could not imagine myself to be leading a normal life just after 15 days of a major open heart surgery. It is truly amazing.
How did you decide to come to India for the treatment?
My doctor in Nigeria helped me a lot in searching for the right healthcare centers for cardiac care. He found out about Vaidam Health and contacted them online. Afterwards, my sister was in touch with them regularly and the team provided us with all the details regarding the best hospitals and doctors for a cardiac treatment. That is how we got to know about Max Hospital and Dr. Sanjeev Malhotra. Thereafter, we decided to come to India without wasting any time.
In what other ways were you assisted by Vaidam?
I have never come across an organization which is so friendly, professional, prompt and authentic. Not only did they assist me to find the right cardiology hospital within my budget but also helped me to look for a nice accommodation. With the team of Vaidam, the several processes of medical evaluation, visa application and other nuances flows very smoothly. During our stay in India, we did not face any difficulty as we were thoroughly guided by the team. My trip has been successful and hassle free because of Vaidam. I really appreciate all of their dedicated endeavors. Keep up the good work.
