Hurana’s problem started in 2016 when he started noticing issues with his urination. He would see blood in his urine sometimes and weakened urinary flow at other times. When he consulted a urologist near his home, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. The doctor recommended him to get surgery. Later, he went through the surgery successfully. However, the symptoms recurred after a while. Hurana was anxious and decided to go out of the country in search of the best treatment. He heard of India is one of the most popular places for complex surgeries.
Hunt for the right doctor
When Hurana started his hunt for the best doctor and the best oncology hospitals in India for his treatment, he came across the website of Vaidam health. He posted a query and received a call back soon after. The case manager, Aditi Sabharwal took his reports and shared them with some of the best doctors in India. The respective hospitals sent their opinions and a cost estimate. After going through the profiles of several doctors, Hurana was finally able to decide to consult Dr. Subodh Chandra Pande in Artemis hospital, Gurgaon.
Arranging accommodation and applying for the visa
The Visa Invitation Letter was arranged by the case manager from the hospital. Another team member assisted Haruna with Visa application. Within 72 hours, the patient received an eMedical visa on his email id. Vaidam team arranged his place of stay as per his preferences along with the airport pickup and dropoff.
Haruna’s journey during the treatment
After his arrival in India, Haruna’s appointment was scheduled with Dr. Subodh Chandra at the hospital. The doctor heard him patiently and keenly conducted a physical examination. He also sent him for some further investigations like CT scan, PET scan and ultrasonography. After the reports came back, it was revealed that some of the cancer cells were still left even after the surgery. Dr. Subodh advised him to get radiation therapy treatment known as IMRT (Intensity-modulated radiation therapy). A few sessions were done after the patient gave his consent for the treatment. He stayed in India for about a month and then went back.
Recovery
Since his radiation therapy, Harun has been recovering well. His symptoms have slowly come to an end and now living a normal life. “ I am highly grateful to Vaidam and the hospital staff for taking care of everything and every kind of cooperation. I had a pleasant stay in India”.
