Annah Mwarya had undergone two major surgeries before in Uganda to cure herself from her recurrent spinal tumour. Despite much efforts, the tumour in her spine kept reappearing while she was rendered a life of paralysis. After looking for several treatments, Anna along with her husband, Xavier came to India for her treatment.
“I had my treatment at Fortis Memorial Research Institute under Dr. Sandeep Vaishya”, said Anna Mwarya. Anna and Xavier had been on their medical trip to India for five weeks. Along with surgical removal of the tumour in her spine, Annah also had to receive radiation therapy for 21 days so as to stop its recurrence.
“I have been suffering from spinal tumour for some time now. Back in Uganda, I had undergone two surgeries. It did not turn out to be good at all. I am paralyzed from below my waist for life. I cannot move. When I and my husband came across Vaidam Health over the internet and went through their website we thought of giving it another chance”, said she.
Hoping to free herself from the bonds of paralysis and excruciating pain seemingly caused by the tumour, when she and her husband visited Dr. Vaishya, they heard a completely different story. “Dr. Vaishya told us that obviously there was a tumour which can be removed and taken care of but that the cause of paralysis lay somewhere else. One of the vertebrae in her spine was missing which must have been taken out during one of the previous surgeries. It’s shocking. All this time we didn’t even know about it and thought it was because of the tumour”, said her husband Xavier.
Though her tumour was removed successfully and the 21 day radiation therapy provided by Dr. Anusheel Munshi ended its recurrence, it was not possible for her to stand up and walk again. “Because of the missing bone in my spine I cannot walk again. Though it is sad news, yet I am happy that I have been relieved of the pain. The tumour has been finally removed and it won’t come back again. My paralysis have been also controlled if not fully cured”, said Annah.
Since the couple was in India during Christmas, Vaidam thought of cheering them up with a simple Christmas celebration. “We felt home with Vaidam Health. It was very sweet of them to celebrate Christmas with us. Their assistance is commendable. They were always there whenever we needed them”, said she.
Before going back to her country, Annah and Xavier expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and Vaidam. “We thank Dr. Vaishya and Dr.Munshi. They are such excellent doctors. Everyone in the hospital is so responsible. Thank you, Pankaj, for your continuous assistance. You have become a dear friend”, said the couple.
