Avascular necrosis (AVN) or osteonecrosis is the death of bone tissue due to a lack of blood supply. It can result in tiny breaks in the bone and cause the bone to collapse. Overall hip is the most common site for AVN.

Mr. Daniel Mwesigwa, a 17-year-old from Uganda, has been suffering from AVN of the hip for the last 2 years. The patient's hip became stiffer, and there was a visible gait issue as he limped while walking.
