Ghana, a West African nation, with a population of around 33.5 million people, has seen a drastic change in the healthcare sector. The reason behind this is the government's initiatives. They have been upgrading their medical facilities to meet international standards.
Though the country also might be a little behind in terms of performing complex surgeries in orthopaedics due to the need for better equipment and advanced training of doctors.
To bridge this gap, Vaidam recently organised a camp in Ghana in association with Artemis Hospital, Gurgaon, India. The camp was held on the 22nd and 23rd July at Family Health Hospital, Accra. Our aim was to expand advanced care, which could benefit hundreds of Ghana patients suffering from orthopaedic problems.
A number of patients expressed their gratitude, saying, "We want more camps like this. These two-day camps are a great start, but we want these to be extended for a whole week."
Senior Orthopaedic Surgeon from India
Dr. Ramkinkar Jha is a skilled Orthopaedic Surgeon with over 23 years of experience. He has performed more than 8,000 joint replacement surgeries, including knee and hip replacements. He was leading the camp and provided consultations to patients for numerous issues such as knee and hip pain, joint dislocations, sports injury, deformity correction, ligament tears, fractures, accident and trauma management, etc.
To Summarise
More than 100 patients benefited from the recent medical camp. Some of the most common queries were related to issues such as arthritis, knee pain, avascular necrosis, and spine problems. Patients also received invaluable consultations and care from experts. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing a strong desire for more frequent outreach programs. We at Vaidam hope to conduct more camps in Ghana soon!
