Healthcare in Kyrgyzstan has seen significant improvements in recent years, particularly in primary care services. While the healthcare system is improving, it still lacks facilities for certain advanced treatments like bone marrow transplants, blood cancers, organ transplants, etc. This gap often forces patients to seek treatment abroad.
To bridge this gap, Vaidam Health hosted a medical camp in Kyrgyzstan on the 3rd and 4th of June, 2024. This camp was held in collaboration with two esteemed medical professionals: neurosurgeon Dr. Shailesh Jain and medical oncologist Dr. Amrita Ramaswami. The event was a remarkable success, attracting over 45 patients who sought expert opinions on various neurological and oncological issues.
The Expertise of Dr. Shailesh Jain and Dr. Amrita Ramaswami
Dr. Shailesh Jain is a distinguished neurosurgeon with over 21 years of experience. He provided consultations for conditions such as Parkinson's disease, brain tumours, brain malformations, and spinal disc herniations. Reflecting on the event, Dr. Jain stated, "The camp was well-organised and carefully planned. The arrangements and hospitality were unmatched. Regular camps with timely follow-ups are crucial."
Dr. Amrita Ramaswami is a renowned cancer specialist with more than 11 years of experience. She offered expertise to patients battling leukaemias, lymphomas, and bleeding disorders. Her consultations were instrumental in guiding patients towards the best possible care plans.
Looking Ahead
Patients expressed immense satisfaction with the consultations and medical advice they received. Many voiced the need for more frequent camps, highlighting the benefit of direct access to specialised care. These camps provide invaluable support and guidance, especially in areas where local healthcare services may fall short.
With continued efforts, the dream of accessible and comprehensive healthcare for all is within reach.
