Chila Chisulo is a 14-year-old teenager who has been suffering from speech impairment and seizures since 2022. He was prescribed a few medications, but those did not work. His father was worried about his condition. To pursue the best possible treatment, they came to a medical camp organized by Vaidam Health in Zambia in September 2023. Since Cancer Specialists from Nanavati Super Specialty Hospital, Mumbai, attended the camp, the patient was asked to come to India for a personalized treatment plan from Neurology experts.
With our assistance, the father-son duo consulted Dr. Siddharth Kharkar, a renowned Neurologist with 22+ years of experience. He is an expert in epilepsy management and has been a part of the epilepsy faculty at the University of Alabama, USA. Diagnostic tests like brain MRI, EEG, and blood tests were done for a proper diagnosis. After reviewing the reports, the doctor decided to treat Chila with medications for a few months. He will observe the patient's response to the medicines and then decide on a further course of treatment.
They stayed in Mumbai for a couple of weeks, and we provided on-ground assistance to the family. We helped them with visa applications, airport pickup and drop off, hotel accommodations, doctor's consultations, and local sightseeing afterward.
