Balloon Sinuplasty is the procedure which is used to treat conditions which have caused blocked or inflamed sinus. The procedure is minimally invasive and there is no cutting or loss of nasal bone or tissue.

A balloon sinuplasty procedure may help to ease the symptoms of chronic sinusitis. According to few studies it was seen that Balloon sinuplasty has improved the symptoms 3 to 6 months after surgery and it has helped in preserving healthy nasal tissue, mucous membrane and their structure.

The procedure may be done using general or local anesthesia. After giving anaesthesia an endoscope is inserted which is a thin flexible plastic tube with a camera and light on its end. Once the endoscope is entered a small balloon catheter is moved over the guiding endoscope wire. When the balloon catheter is being positioned inside the nasal passage and cavity then it will be slowly inflated and pressed against the sinus wall. When the balloon is fully inflated then doctor will remove the debris with saline rinses.
Most people can go home only few hours after the procedure but it will take around 24 to 48 hours to recover.
Usually, sinuplasty tends to cause grogginess, tiredness, tenderness, congestion, and bloody drainage in the week following surgery.
You may be told to not do nose blowing for one to two days immediately after surgery. You are advised to avoid strenuous activity for few weeks after surgery.
