- Dr. Ng Soon Chye is an obstetrician & gynaecologist having more than 35 years of expertise.
- Services provided by him includes reproductive medicine and infertility treatment, and his clinical interests include infertility (female and male infertility), gynaecological laparoscopy and hormonal disturbances.
- He graduated from the University of Singapore (NUS) in 1974, obtained the specialist degree in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and became a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (RCOG) of London in 1981.
- Due to his achievement in launching the first IVF programme in Singapore and in giving birth to the first IVF child in Asia in 1983, many people consider Dr. Ng Soon Chye to be the "father" of in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) in Asia.
- Dr. Ng has continued to break new ground since this significant accomplishment, developing techniques including the intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) technique in 1993 and the sub-zona insemination (SUZI) technique in 1989. Both methods were successful and the first of their kind to be used in Asia (ICSI) and the rest of the world (SUZI).
- Dr. Ng is an adjunct professor at the National University of Singapore's Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and has over 160 publications in international journals. Somatic cell nuclear transfer, stem cell biology, and uses of mammalian gamete development are some of the subjects of his research.
